Bio of Peg M.
Now you get to hear from the First Lady. I was the first
female agent to sign on with OFG, starting in Jan of 2002. I have always loved
new challenges, but never dreamt I would find fulfillment as a life insurance
agent.
My BS is in Gerontology (growing up on a dairy farm in
Nebraska kept us close to home, so my first trip to Colorado was to my dorm room
at UNC). Consequently, my work has usually involved the older population. After
college, I started a Senior Center which is still going strong. Giving birth to
a baby girl, however, won my heart. So I quit my job, had another baby girl 13
months later, and planned to go back to work when the kids went to school. Alas,
raising daughters was just too much fun, so my husband and I adopted a third
baby girl from Korea.
I eventually obtained a wonderful position managing an
independent living retirement residence. However, one summer I realized it could
be the last time all our kids were home. Since I was on always on call, I made
the hard decision to again quit a good job to enjoy our girls. Dad got very
jealous when we took a road trip to Washington DC and spent the last day of the
US Open on the 18th hole at Congressional Golf Course! A great agent
hired me as his Office Manager that fall. So not only did that summer give me a
“priceless” experience with my children, it also led me to a new career.
OFG gave me the chance to make good money, use the sales
talent I was just discovering, and still travel to visit our kids, now living in
several states. The newness of internet sales excited me, and I was impressed by
OFG’s commitment to doing things “right”. I liked the idea of selling to people
who wanted the product, and being able to find them the best price. I now also
know the satisfaction of finding coverage for those who believe they are
uninsurable.
The Summit, conference calls, leads, emails, LeadBoss,
training sessions, marketing tips, caring support staff …..OFG is like having an
entire corporation backing you up. You would not believe how far this
organization has come in three years. I can’t imagine what the years ahead will
bring. But I’m sure anxious to find out.
