Jim Wilkinson, born March 21, 1967 at
a Naval Hospital near San Juan, Puerto Rico. I
lived there, on the US occupied island for about 4 years, three
years later I was blessed with a baby sister, then we
all moved to California. We lived for
less than a year there before my mother
and father went their separate ways. My
mother, sister and I then moved up to my
mother's hometown in Carnation, Washington. It
seemed my mother couldn't stand the thought of moving back in with her
parents or something like that,
so we took up residence in a trailer
park near Snohomish, Washington. We
lived and played there until the whole
park was under water and we were all forced out from a massive 100
year flood. We then took up residence in a very small Bothell,
Washington apartment, then a small house,
then a bigger house and that is were I was
raised from 1st grade through high school. I still live in
Bothell today.
I have 2 wonderful
and beautiful children, both girls ages 13 and 8. They too attend the
same elementary, middle school, and soon high school, that I
attended. For sure both girls will also attend and graduate from the
University of Washington. My lovely spouse,
Elaine, was born at a Naval Hospital near San Diego, California, her
family also moved to Bothell, Washington when she was 4 years old and she grew
up in town as well. We met our last year of
high school and the rest is history. These
days I live, eat and breath NASCAR, have been
a huge fan for 15 years, back in the days, when NASCAR races weren't even
televised, except for the big 2 or 3 events of the year, now that every race
is televised, life doesn't get much better. My
family and I enjoy snow skiing all
winter long and parlay that family
fun activity into summer boating as the seasons change. Personally, in
addition to my family and NASCAR, I love little more than golfing and Husky
football.
Professionally, I
attended the University of Washington, as mentioned above, obtained my
engineering degree by cramming a 4 year education into 5 years. After doing
several internships during my college
years, I quickly discovered that
when I did finally graduate with this
$50,000 engineering degree it wasn't going to do much
more than hang on my office wall and
look pretty. Upon graduating from college in March of 1990, I
instead, followed my mother's
footsteps and went directly into the insurance business. With her help, I
obtained my own Farmers
Insurance Group franchise a few years later and have grown
that agency to one of the top 10 in the state of Washington. After achieving
many Farmer accolades I looked to
broadened my horizons
and joined forces with The Wed kings in founding InsuranceOnly. The rest is
history you know. It's great to be associated with so many fine professionals
nationally.
