I was born in Gastonia, NC in 1956.  I have a younger brother and sister.  The first few years of my life my father was a high school teacher and football coach and my mother also taught.  I grew up as a pretty average middle class boy enjoying all after school activities and sports.  I continue to enjoy playing golf whenever possible. 

My father went to work for a property and casualty insurance company in 1969 and moved our family to Raleigh, NC.  A few years later he purchased a property and casualty agency. 

After graduating from high school in 1974 I enrolled in college and finished at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC with a business management degree.  That summer I went to work as a debit life agent with Prudential for one very difficult but successful year.  The communication skills I learned have continued to serve me well through my sales career. 

After leaving Prudential I went to work with my father in his agency.  I enjoyed the time we spent together and learned a great deal about running a business.  We worked together for ten years until his retirement in 1991.  At that point I felt the desire to concentrate my efforts in the life insurance business.  The freedom from an excessive amount of service related activities is very appealing to me.  Since then I have worked to grow my business through the sales of life insurance, disability annuities and health insurance. 

I the first quarter of 2002 after looking at Only Financial’s press releases and talking to Brad I decided to start taking quote requests.  It now demands the majority of my time.  I continue to experience the ups and downs of this type of marketing and believe my consistent efforts well be rewarded.
