I was born in Yakima, Washington on June 20^th in 1975. I have two sisters. Susan is 25 and Katie, a half sister, is 14. My father retired from the Yakima School District as an administrator about 2 years ago while my mom also retired from the Yakima School District at about the same time. My mother was a teacher. Much of my family still lives in Washington with most living in Yakima and the Seattle area.

During my senior year of high school I met a Norwegian exchange student who I began dating. After graduation I moved to Norway and become fully immersed in Norwegian and European culture.

I eventually moved back to the Seattle area and attended the University of Washington. I graduated from the UW in 1998 with a degree in business and concentrations in Finance, Entrepreneurship, and Marketing.  

Just out of school I started a business importing products from Norway and selling them to stores in Washington and California. I ran this for about 6 months and then decided it would be great to actually make some money. I was interviewing for numerous companies when I met Pat. He wanted me to work for his financial planning business. I declined so he countered with an offer of helping he and his brother start a company that sold insurance leads. However, the company (we didn’t even have a name) couldn’t afford to pay me so I had to get another job. I thus went to work for a telecommunications startup company. I worked with this company for 1 year while helping Mike and Pat lay the groundwork for InsuranceOnly. I still remember coming home on my lunch breaks from my “other” job so I could be on a call with Pat and Mike on what we should name the company. We must have come up with a hundred names. InsuranceOnly is what stuck partly because of the other “Only” domains that the company owned at that time. I have been with the company ever since this time (1999) in either part or full-time capacity. 

When I’m not working at InsuranceOnly, I like to work out. Usually I’ll go to the gym to do weights but I also enjoy riding my mountain bike (in the mountains and around Seattle). I have recently gotten involved in road cycling as well and enjoy riding the streets of Seattle as well as the Burke-Gilman and other trails around Puget Sound. I also enjoy traveling, being with friends, and going to a local bar for some great Seattle micro-beer.

I hope to work with InsuranceOnly for years to come. I love seeing the creation process; building the business. I’m excited at what the future holds for InsuranceOnly and OnlyFinancialGroup and truly feel I’m part of a team – no, part of a family. It’s great!
